Extreme weather has made the SAR team evacuating bodies from the top of Mount Agung in Bali experience many difficulties. Previously, the body of Alexander Bimo Haryotedjo (60), from Bongsari Village, West Semarang was found at the top of Mount Agung Bali by several groups of foreigners who were climbing after Nyepi celebrations in Bali.

The SAR team evacuated the body of a resident from Yogyakarta who was found at the top of Mount Agung at an altitude of 2833 meters above sea level, Wednesday night (13/3).

Initially, the first team departed from Pengubengan Post at 03.00 WITA and was followed by the next team at around 08.20 WITA. After traveling for approximately 9 hours, the first SRU finally arrived at the location where the body was found. The weather conditions were rainy and the wind was very strong, the fog was thick, limiting visibility to around 1 meter. An hour later, the joint SAR team began to return with the body.

Seeing the situation and conditions at the location, 6 personnel were again dispatched from the Bali Basarnas Office located in Jimbaran. Upon arrival at Pengubengan Post, they continued up following the previous team. The last team that helped with the evacuation process left at 20.00 WITA, consisting of the Agung Selat Market Guide Association who already knew the ins and outs of the route to the top of Mount Agung Bali.

The evacuation process was carried out by relay from SAR teams 1 to 4. As the night went on, the weather conditions were not conducive, there were rainstorms. This condition slowed down the movement of the joint SAR team.

On Thursday (14/3) morning at 07.12 WITA, Alexander’s body arrived at Pengubengan Post, then taken to Karangasem Regional Hospital using a hearse. During the evacuation process, SAR elements from Basarnas Bali, Samapta Polda Bali, Brimob Polda Bali, Karangasem Police, Rendang Police, Intel Kodim 1623 Karangasem, Babinsa Rendang, Babinsa Besakih, BPBD Karangasem, local guides, the Agung Selat Market Guide Association and the local community were involved.
