Eve, specialist in connected objects for the home, has just announced three new products: Eve Energy Outlet (a new product), Eve Ligh Switch (an update of an existing accessory) and Eve Blinds Collection. They are targeting the American market, but we can assume that some will arrive in Europe (this is the case for the blinds).

Let’s quickly move on to the Eve Light Switch: it is a Matter version of the switch already offered, which is worth 100 € and is compatible with Thread. The American variant, presented here, costs $50 and therefore becomes Matter compatible for better interoperability. Remember that the physical format of American switches is not the same as in France, which may explain the price difference.

The Eve Blinds Collection will be available in the United States but also in Germany (without further details on the rest of Europe). This is a custom blind manufacturing service, using an Eve MotionBlinds motor. This engine, HomeKit and Thread compatible, worth €200 alone.

The last product is probably the most interesting, although it seems limited to the United States at the moment. In fact, the Eve Energy Outlet is a double recessed connected socket. It is therefore placed directly in the wall and replaces traditional sockets, but with a connected version, compatible with Thread and Matter. It allows you to manage the two sockets independently, and it also records the consumption of connected devices, a function absent from HomeKit. But as with current connected socketsthe Eve application, home automation servers such as Home Assistant or Samsung SmartThings can recover the data.

The whole question obviously comes from the price: the double recessed socket is announced for $50 in the United States, with a release on February 6, 2024. But Eve tends to sell its products more expensive in Europe (they are different), without even taking taking into account the absence of VAT on prices across the Atlantic.
