“Even if it hurts…”: The harsh opinion of Johnny Herrera about those who play paddle tennis

Last weekend Johnny Herrera played paddle tennis for the first time. Although he found it entertaining, he acknowledges that his passion is tennis and he launched a harsh opinion on the sport that is breaking it in Chile.

“I like tennis but I was forced to play paddle tennis because my wife had a story with the school’s parents,” said the retired goalkeeper from the U, in conversation with LUN.

He commented that from now on he will play every weekend with his wife, Steffi Scholtbach. “We are going to start going every weekend, because it serves to socialize and, in addition, the little children get together to play soccer next door,” he was sincere.

“Like playing paddle on the beach”

Regarding his paddle tennis debut, Johnny Herrera was categorical: “I found it entertaining, but it was literally like playing paddle tennis on the beach.”

“Even though it hurts, paddle tennis is for those who once tried to play tennis and didn’t progress,” he said with a laugh. “It’s radically different, but it was still entertaining,” she added.

The current TNT Sports commentator revealed that he has been playing tennis since 2001 when he was studying Pedagogy in Physical Education. He even confessed that he was about to venture into an ITF tournament, when he was considering not renewing with the channel. However, he backed down because it took a lot of his time.

Of course, he managed a friend in doubles, in another ITF tournament. They lost in three sets.
