PSV Eindhoven and Borussia Dortmund shared the game 1-1 on Tuesday in Eindhoven in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League. Johan Bakayoko, ill and absent on Friday against Heracles Almelo in the Eredivisie, found his place in the starting eleven of PSV, who found themselves trailing after 24 minutes.

Donyell Malen, a former PSV player, beat Walter Benitez with a shot from the right which ended up in the back of the net. Bakayoko found himself in a position to equalize but sent the ball wide (35th). PSV’s equalizer came in the 56th minute. The referee whistled a penalty after a tackle by Mats Hummels on Malik Tillman in the rectangle. The VAR validated the penalty, which Luuk De Jong transformed to bring the tie back into the scoreboard.
The return match will take place on March 13 in Dortmund.
