Cassandra Webb is a Manhattan paramedic who is said to be able to see into the future. Forced to face revelations about her past, she forms a relationship with three young women destined for an extraordinary future… if they manage to survive a deadly present.
Who is Madame Web?
In the film directed by SJ Clarkson, to be seen in theaters this Wednesday, February 14, it is the character played by Dakota Johnson. Alongside Adam Scott (who plays Ben Parker, Peter’s uncle), Emma Roberts, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced and Tahar Rahim, who plays the big bad.
The feature film follows in the tradition of Venom and Morbius (and the future Kraven), in the universe linked to Spider-Man but in which Spider-Man is conspicuous by his absence. The notable difference is that Madame Web does not feature one of her enemies, but one of her allies.
In comic books, his first appearance dates back to November 1980, in the pages of issue 210 of “The Amazing Spider-Man”. Contrary to the film, Cassandra Webb is born blind and affected by myasthenia gravis, a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease, which gradually paralyzes her.

An opus which serves as an origin story by Cassandra Webb, set in 2003, taking some liberties with the comic books: the heroine is not blind in the feature film, and already an adult when her powers manifest for the first time.
In view of the trailer, the ambition displayed is to compensate for the absence of Spider-Man (linked to questions of sharing of rights between Marvel Studios and Sony) by adapting the adventures of his female counterparts to the cinema. And the Web is woven from February 14 at the cinema.
