The Russian drove for the Austrian racing team from 2015 to 2016 before being demoted to the sister team, which at the time was still called Toro Rosso. In a conversation with “Speed City Broadcasting”, the 30-year-old said: “It seems to be a bit chaotic there. Personally, I’m not very surprised. I don’t know whether it’s Helmut Marko or whether Christian Horner is more important now. I don’t know who will win in their power struggle up there.”
It is clear to Kvyat that a lot will happen in the near future. He expects decisions, especially on a personnel level. He can’t resist a little hint: “They seem to like bringing back their old friends, so if any of them want to get in touch, they still have my phone number.”
This refers to his former teammate Daniel Ricciardo, who was brought back into the Red Bull cosmos after his trip to Renault (now Alpine) and McLaren. “It’s a shame that what happens outside the track is much more interesting than what actually happens on the track,” says Kyvat.
