CHENNAI: Bengaluru Torpedos Super Fives kept their hopes alive by defeating Calicut Heroes in a thriller in the third season of RuPay Prime Volleyball League Powered by A23. The victory was in a five-set fight at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai. Score: 14–16, 19–17, 13–15, 15–10, 15–11. Sethu TR is the star of the game.
Sethu’s impressive performance from the service line put Calicut under pressure from the start. At the same time, Calicut also put in a fiery performance on serves. Chirag was the mastermind. Pankaj Sharma’s attacking moves troubled the Calicut defence, but mistakes cost Bengaluru back. Chirag’s straight serves gave Calicut an early lead.
Calicut responded with Chirag as Sethu dominated with aggressive serves. It is Mujeeb’s defense that paves the way for Bengaluru to come back into the game. Sethu was still running. Later, Bengaluru scored a brilliant victory through a special spike by Sethu.
Bengaluru is third with ten points. Calicut is fifth with eight points.
