It is difficult to find in the recent past of our football system a tournament with a definition as exciting as that of the First B National Championship. A contest with two dates left to play and, as rarely, the uncertainty is maximum: nothing has been decided yet and there are too many protagonists still intertwined in the middle of decisions.
Date 29 of the B started this Sunday with two matches, in which the definitive salvation of Santiago Morning stood out, who confirmed his permanence in the division for next year with his victory over Deportes La Serena. The main courses, however, will be played today.
Six games will liven up what has been called the Super Monday of the B. And, of course, there will be too much at stake in each of the matches of this day.
Since there were definitions on the table, the ANFP decided to schedule matches simultaneously. At 12:30 those committed to relegation will play, while at 5:30 p.m. the teams that are going for the title will play. Six meetings; emotions for all tastes.
Puerto Montt and Recoleta, to continue suffering
The actions were opened by the teams that arrived at the bottom… and that will remain in last place until the last date. Despite playing at home, both Deportes Recoleta and Deportes Puerto Montt remain in last place, while Rangers, Universidad de Concepción and Santa Cruz can finally breathe easy.
Then comes the fight for direct promotion. Cobreloa and Santiago Wanderers are leaders, with 48 units, but the difference with the sixth-placed team, San Luis, is just four units. Anything can still happen in a race that also includes Deportes Temuco (47), Deportes Antofagasta (46, +14) and Deportes Iquique (46, +13). All these teams take the field this Monday, at 5:30 p.m.
Unmissable, as it had not happened in any category of our football for years. The arrival at the finish line in Primera B 2023 will be millimetric and on these two remaining dates, whoever blinks loses.
