Together with City Councilor Manfred Eber and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Ina Bergmann, the GBG invited representatives from the municipal council, districts, the GBG Supervisory Board and offices of the Graz Municipality to an excursion to the Graz City Forest.
Mag. Hirner and the forestry team of the GBG commented on the challenges in urban forest management on the Eustacchio grounds – on a previously determined route – and discussed the extensive and sometimes difficult tasks using examples.
Via the Lustbühel area we continued to the Buchkogel, the largest contiguous forest and local recreation area owned by the GBG. In addition to the renovated viewing platform around the Church of St. Johann and Paul, which is also owned by the GBG, forest management, the topic of local recreation and the possibilities but also the limits of use were shown. On the way from St. Johann and Paul to the Orthacker in the south of the Buchkogel, many interesting insights were given and connections explained.
