Lay from EXO parted ways with SM Entertainment.
On April 8, EXO’s 10th anniversary, Lay posted a handwritten letter in English and Korean announcing his departure from SM Entertainment.
In the letter, he expressed his gratitude to the members of EXO, SM Entertainment, and his fans. He added, “I will always be the Lay when my members need me,” and concluded with, “EXO, let’s love.”

Ten years of growth, thank you all.
Thanks to my EXO brothers for their company and encouragement.
Thank you to my colleagues at SM for witnessing every step of my growth and achievements.
Thank you to all my fans for your unconditional love and support.
It’s time to say goodbye as an employee of SM.
It is also my new start as a 30 year old.
But I will always be the Lay when my members need me.
I am your family member in China, Zhang Yixing.
I love you forever.
