At the end of July, the management had already announced the passage under franchise, from September 4, of five stores, in this case those located in Bouge, Braine-l’Alleud, Wavre, Couillet and Gilly. This will bring to 22 the number of points of sale announced under franchise at the start of the school year out of a total of 51 “Intermarché by Mestdagh” stores. This Wednesday, an additional step will therefore be taken and it might be more substantial than the 5 franchise stores announced at the end of July.
Independent operators
As a reminder, the desire of the management of Intermarché is to find independent operators for all of the former Carrefour Market by Mestdagh which have become, since the takeover of the brand, Intermarché by Mestdagh.
The social climate remains quite tense at Mestdagh-Intermarché. At the end of July, the unions also recalled their desire to keep “the 29 stores not yet franchised in SA Mestdagh as long as a buyer had not been appointed”. Unions who were also worried regarding the questioning of certain staff achievements and reported “rather mixed feedback from the field” from the first points of sale passed under franchise.
