expect a huge performance boost

A few weeks before their official presentation, not a day goes by without new information around the Galaxy S23 surfacing. Today we are going to talk about the performance that we can expect from the upcoming high-end smartphones from Samsung.

In recent years, Samsung smartphones equipped with Exynos processors have been far from unanimous, mainly because of their lower performance compared to Snapdragon versions. A lack that will be filled with the Galaxy S23 which should all benefit from a power that will finally no longer have to be ashamed of the competition.

A real leap forward

It is once again the leaker Ahmed Qwaider who, after sharing three crucial features of the Galaxy S23, today announces the performance gains to be expected on the future flagships of the Korean brand. The Galaxy S23 will be equipped with the new high-end chip from Qualcomm: the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The least we can say is that this new SoC will represent a real generational leap for Samsung.

As you can see above, the leaker indicates performance gains of around 26% for the processor, 48% for the graphics part and 60% for the chip dedicated to artificial intelligence. Better still, these figures represent the expected gains compared to the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra equipped with the excellent Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. A version which European users unfortunately did not take advantage of.

One of the major changes to the Galaxy S23 concerns the arrival of Qualcomm SoCs in all markets, including Europe. Indeed, the S22 marketed on the old continent are equipped with a Samsung Exynos 2200 processor which did not bring satisfaction, as well in terms of performance as autonomy and heat management on some models.

The performance gain of the S23 with the Qualcomm chip will therefore be even greater. compared to the Exynos versions that we have in Europe.

Samsung is upping its game

Power is good, provided the smartphone does not turn into a toaster. Samsung has already paid the price in the past and seems to have worked seriously on the issue of the different cooling systems of its Galaxy S23. All models will not be in the same boat on this point, but let’s hope that the Korean brand will offer convincing performance across its entire range.

Samsung would have heard the criticisms around its high-end mobiles insofar as the brand could offer an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Indeed, the CPU of the Qualcomm chip would run at 3.36 GHz, against 3.2 GHz for the standard version. The observation is similar with the GPU whose frequency would have been revised upwards: 719 MHz against 680 MHz.

The chip would be accompanied by LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage which will further enhance the performance of Korean mobiles. Great news for the most demanding users for whom these high-end models are aimed.
