Although we’re not getting an E3 this year, we’re actually only 16 days away from the next best thing; Summer Game Fest. This is an event created and hosted by Geoff Keighly (who also creates and hosts The Game Awards), and this year seems to be quite full as more than 40 companies are confirmed to participate.
That doesn’t automatically mean we’re going to get 40 really big announcements – but Keighley says there are a few too, which is usually all it takes to make players really happy. In an interview on Epic Games Storehe explains:
“As I always say with these series, one or two games make all the difference. As a producer, it’s a challenge because sometimes you have these games, sometimes you don’t, sometimes you think you have them and they drop or change.
So how many of these major announcements, which can make or break the show, should we expect then? Keighley says he currently has three or four things that he thinkswill be “quite important for this audience”.
It’s worth pointing out that not all of these games need to be new games, as they might also be new hardware, movies, etc. – but this is a game show, so we can expect them to be at least clearly geared towards video games.
Summer Game Fest kicks off on June 8. We will of course cover everything that happens as usual.
