The wave of inflation does not stop at pets either. Their owners have to dig significantly deeper into their pockets for dogs, cats, etc., as data from Statistics Austria shows. In September, pets and animal products were 14.3 percent more expensive than a year ago, which is more than twice as much as the general inflation rate of six percent – with feed costs rising particularly sharply. Why is that? Are pets still affordable for people with little income?
