Experience Sharjah’s Ancient Kalba Heritage Market: Grand Reopening Ceremony by Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi

Sharjah: Sharjah’s ancient Kalba Heritage Market has reopened after completion of restoration work. In the ceremony held on Saturday morning, the member of the UAE Supreme Council and the ruler of Sharjah Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi inaugurated the market.

The Sultan was received for the opening programs under the leadership of the Deputy Heads of the Office of the Ruler of Khorfukan, Sheikh Saeed bin Zakhar Al Qasimi and Sheikh Haitham bin Zakhar Al Qasimi. Sharjah’s famous Kalba Market has 140 shops in two rows.

The front parts of these are built in accordance with the traditional urban style of the city with a heritage stamp. In front of all the shops, a 570 meter long two-story wooden and plaster, architectural arch and heritage arcade have been constructed.

The heritage market is divided into two parts with a length of 120 meters on the east side of Sheikh Saeed Bin Hamad Street and a length of 470 meters on the west side of the street. 473 parking spaces provided in the premises will facilitate the access of the visitors to the market
