A tremendous scare was given to the athlete Chris Randall when he was going through Red Pike, a mountainous area in Wasdale,
“It’s creepy to see it out of the corner of your eye and think it was someone else moving”, assured Randall, who posted the video on his Twitter account and it did not take long for it to go viral.
But it wasn’t a ghost the curious phenomenon captured by the athlete is known as the Brocken spectrum.
What Randall saw was his shadow cast in the mist.
Why is it known as the Brocken spectrum?
“This phenomenon, known in German as Brockengespenst or mountain specter se displayed in the presence of fog or mist, during a sunny day when the sun shines from behind the person observing it”, explained in an article the portal Hipertextual.
The athlete was surprised by the reaction to his publication and appreciated such an impact.
“Tweeted my brocken spook yesterday, got a few likes, had lunch, finished work, went with my friends. Woke up and 1.7 million views and 80k likes later and phone still freaking out ???????? thanks for all the love ❤️,” Randall wrote.
