Canon City Wild Horse Facility

The BLM’s wild horse and burro holding facility at the Colorado Department of Corrections in Canon City can house up to 3,000 animals at a time and allows inmates to feed and care for wild horses. The Wild Horse Inmate Program was previously hosted at this facility but is no longer available.

The facility holds adoptions for wild horses which can be found here. Adopters must make an appointment in advance. Please contact 719-269-8500 to make an appointment.
