While attending a pre-wedding celebration Anant Ambanison of Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani, Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates were invited to take a walk in Vantara. Vantara is a sprawling animal rescue and rehabilitation center like a wildlife sanctuary, located in Jamnagar, the venue for Akash Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding party.
Anant Ambani is Mukesh’s youngest son and serves as a director in several of his father’s companies, while Vantara is his personal project. In Vantara, Zuckerberg is seen enjoying the company of several lemurs.
Vantara stretches across 3,000 hectares. In this location, a rescue and rehabilitation center covering an area of more than 650 hectares was established. In recent years, this program has succeeded in saving more than 200 elephants and thousands of other animals including reptiles and birds. They care for important species such as rhinos, leopards and crocodiles.
Vantara aims to save endangered species and restore their habitats. They plan to collaborate with leading organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWFN) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), as well as the Zoo Authority of India to improve the standards of zoos.
There are special facilities for elephants and modern accommodation for various animals such as leopards, lions, crocodiles and tigers. In addition to carefully designed animal enclosures, the facility also includes a hydrotherapy pool, a spacious elephant jacuzzi for arthritis treatment, and more.

“What started as a passion for me at a very young age has become a mission with Vantara. We are focused on protecting endangered native Indian species. We also want to restore critical habitats and address urgent threats to species and make Vantara a leading conservation program,” Anant said.

There are 2,100 employees at Vantara. “We have created a veterinary hospital with the most advanced technology. This hospital has MRI and CT scan machines, robotic endoscopic surgical machines, and 6 surgical centers. We also install prosthetics for the animals. The zoological park will soon be opened to the public,” explained Anant.
Visits are for educational purposes only and no wildlife is exposed for entertainment. “There will be no wildlife jungle safari for guests who come for our pre-wedding celebrations. The safari is only for educational purposes, not for recreation or entertainment. Those who are interested in educating themselves can come along,” he concluded as reported by News18, Saturday (9/3/2024) .
