COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) —

An array of Asian flavors with the mission to give back — this is the appeal of Mecha Noodle Bar, a Connecticut-based chain that has come to the Heart of America.

The Short North has already taken a liking to the restaurant, now located in the former White Castle building on North High Street. Mecha opened on April 12, and social media has been highlighting the fun, outgoing atmosphere and its wide selection of dishes.

The chain desires to be an immersive journey into the heart of Southeast Asian culture, and the name itself — “Mecha” — means “mom and pop” in Vietnamese.

Items like Japanese ramen, Vietnamese pho, Chinese bao and Korean fried chicken are on the menu, along with bubble teas, cocktails, sake and beer.

Mecha’s “Eat Justice” initiative states that each chain location donates 50 cents of every ramen bowl purchase to a good cause in the local community, and they share on their in-store newsletter where those donations are going every month.
