Palakkad: The green light from the Prime Minister’s Office is waiting for the second Vandebharat Express for Kerala at the Chennai Basin Bridge Yard of the Southern Railway. The decision regarding the route will be made from there.
Although there are many rumours, even the top officials of Southern Railway have not received official information regarding the timing and route of Vandebharat. The only confirmed information is that it will run under the Palakkad division.
Last month, Palakkad Division had submitted a report on the facilities in Mangaluru as directed by the Railway Board. The response of the officials is that we can expect a decision at any time. The first Vandebharat was granted to Kerala in the same way.
As Vandebharat Express is currently running on the Kasaragod – Thiruvananthapuram route, there is a strong rumor that the second one will be from Mangaluru to Ernakulam.
