Astronomers explain that Arp 220 is exceptionally bright. It can be said that it is brighter than trillions of suns. If compared Our Milky Way galaxy is modestly more luminous than our Sun by about 10 billion stars, Arp 220 lies 250 million light-years away in the constellation Serpent. It is the 220th object in Halton Arp’s catalog of strange galaxies, the Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies.

The collision of the two spiral galaxies began about 700 million years ago. Causes a massive stellar explosion. There are about 200 large star clusters inhabiting the dusty region. It occupies about 5,000 light-years, while the amount of gas there is equal to that of the Milky Way Galaxy.
