Explosion at a mine near Orenburg killed three people

An explosion occurred at the Gaisky mining and processing plant in the Orenburg region. Three miners died, the prosecutor’s office is investigating, reported in the regional office.

The incident happened around 8:50 local time (6:50 Moscow time). According to the prosecutor’s office, during the production work, “an extraordinary detonation of the substance occurred at a depth of 1.2 km.” 88 workers were evacuated. The first deputy prosecutor of the region, Yevgeny Sheirer, and the inter-district prosecutor of the Gaisky district, Aleksey Maksimov, left for the scene of the explosion.

The emergency services said TASSthat there were 91 people in the mine at the time of the explosion. None of the evacuees needed medical attention. Safety violations are considered among the main versions of the explosion, the source said. “Interfax”.
