Extinction Rebellion defies ban: A12 blocked again in The Hague

Extinction Rebellion (XR) climate activists block A12 in The Hague, NOS says: the highway is closed to traffic in both directions and law enforcement and members of the police are on the spot to stop the protesters ME riot squad. The mayor has given the green light to use water cannons to disperse the activists.

A group of protesters stand with banners on the highway, blocked by police officers: the organization expects around 2800 people at the blockade and another 1800 people for a demonstration on the edge of the highway tunnel.

The police and the municipality warned this morning that such a blockade is prohibited and that the protesters will be arrested. Climate activists held a protest concert in the middle of the highway. This is the fifth block in a few months.
