A holiday has been declared for all educational institutions including professional colleges in Ernakulam district due to heavy rain warning. Collector NSK Umesh announced the holiday. The holiday applies to all educational institutions including Anganwadis, Kendriya Vidyalayas, State, CBSE and ICSE schools.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that people should be cautious as there is a possibility of widespread heavy rains in the state for the next five days. Kandol rooms have been opened in all districts considering the intensity of rain. The chief minister also stated that the district level and taluk level emergency operation centers have been instructed to work 24 hours a day.
National Disaster Response Force is ready in seven districts. The Chief Minister also stated that the National Disaster Response Force has been set up in the districts of Idukki, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Alappuzha and Thrissur to be used in emergency situations.
