Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren) tested positive for coronavirus during pre-season Formula 1 testing in Bahrain, his team announced on Friday.
Sick, Ricciardo, 32, withdrew for the first day on Thursday before also having to skip the second day on Friday. McLaren announced on Friday evening that the Australian driver had tested positive for coronavirus.
“Daniel remains in quarantine according to local sanitary measures. With these measures, Daniel will be released in time for the Bahrain Grand Prix next week. He feels better and we wish him a speedy recovery.“, McLaren wrote in its press release.
The British team has confirmed that Lando Norris will be driving the MCL36 single-seater on Saturday for the third and final day of pre-season testing. The 2022 Formula 1 season will start on Sunday March 20 with the Bahrain Grand Prix.
