While Apple will soon be forced to allow other application stores on its devices in Europe, the firm now offers a showcase site to promote its own store and native applications.
Apple is embarking on a seduction operation by highlighting its own applications within a web page entitled ” Apps by Apple on its website. If the initiative coincides with the manufacturer’s next keynote on September 12, we imagine that Apple is anticipating another deadline, that ofsideloadingimposed by the European Union.
Apple promotes its own apps
The page Apps by Apple acts as a real gondola head for its own native applications available on all its devices (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, Apple Watch). All application categories are highlighted:
Creativity: applications for creative people, whether professional or passionate. Communication: apps that keep you connected to the world. Productivity: to organize your life and stay productive. Exploration: applications for discovering and navigating the world. Health and fitness: staying fit in body and mind. Entertainment and home: all entertainment applications (movies, series, music, podcasts, video games).
Each application redirects to its page in the App Store and mentions which Apple device it is compatible with. The page displays one last category, “Features», which highlights all the native options facilitating the use of its different operating systems (iOS, iPadOS, macOS, etc.). We find Siri, iCloud, CarPlay, AirPlay or even Family Sharing.
The page ends with an unequivocal message:The apps you love. From a place you can trustalongside other mentions reinforcing the security and accessibility of its software offer.
We’ve known it for months: Cupertino is resistant to the idea of allowing other application stores on its devices. The firm has always raised the argument of security, the validation process of its App Store acting as a filter against potentially dangerous applications for users. Apple has always been very discreet about this European directive which will come into force in March 2024 and the posting of a page “App by Appleconfirms once again that the brand is going about it as carefully as it can.
