The high-tech scam took place in Molipur village in Mehsana district of Gujarat. Some youngsters wearing the jerseys of Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans played in the fake IPL. It is reported that the organizers were bringing them for a daily wage of 400 rupees. The tournament featured umpires, fake walkie-talkies and a commentator impersonating Harsha Bhogle. The matches were shot with four cameras and telecasted on YouTube. The video included crowd-noise sound effects downloaded from the internet to mislead the audience. The name was Indian Premier Cricket League. They started betting on fake IPL and looted lakhs. The Russians were mostly scammed. When the matches reached the play-offs, the organizers were caught by the police. The group used to place bets through the Telegram app.
