(AOF) – The FAO Dairy Product Price Index averaged 111.3 points in August, 4.6 points (4%) lower than in July. This is the eighth consecutive monthly decline in the index, the value of which shows a decline of 32.1 points (22.4%) compared to that of last year in the same month. In August, international prices for all dairy products declined, with whole milk powder prices falling the most, reflecting ample supplies, particularly in Oceania.

This decline occurred due to seasonal increases in production and slowing imports from China, although imported volumes remained relatively high.

Additionally, skimmed milk powder prices fell to their lowest level since mid-2020 due to reduced import demand and sluggish market activity due to summer holidays in Europe .

Additionally, international prices for butter and cheese have declined due to similar factors and stable production schedules in Oceania.
