One of the economic supports of the Colombian government for the most vulnerable families is the benefit called Families in Action 2022. It is a supplement to the income of the poorest to improve the health and education of the smallest in Colombia.
It is a monthly monetary transfer that includes all the departments, municipalities, districts and departmental corregimientos of the country. HOW TO ENROLL IN FAMILIES IN ACTION
“We have modernized Families in Action. During the government of President Iván Duque we managed to redesign this program, to adapt it to the new realities of the population in the country. This led us to launch phase IV and expand coverage”, said the director of Social Prosperity, Pierre García Jacquier.
In addition, García clarified that the program is prioritized for the most vulnerable households so that they “improve their opportunities and not be left behind. This is how the Route for Overcoming Poverty advances”. The mayors will report the day, time and place to register for the program.
REQUIREMENTS TO ENROLL IN FAMILIES IN ACTION
In order for a household to be in the Familias en Acción process, it must meet these criteria:
- That the household has been surveyed using the Sisbén IV methodology.
- That the household is classified in subgroups A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, B1, B2, B3 or B4 of Sisbén IV.
- That the household has children and adolescents under 18 years of age registered in its composition.
In the registration process, the owner of the home must inform:
- Exact name of the educational center where the children to be enrolled and who are on the Sisbén IV file study.
- Exact name of the IPS where children under 6 years of age to be enrolled are cared for.

WHAT MUNICIPALITIES MAKE UP FAMILIES IN ACTION?
Families in Action It has a classification of municipalities in four groups that allows differentiating the actions in the territory, according to the degree of urbanization and multidimensional poverty.
- Municipal Group 1: Bogota
- Municipal Group 2: Armenia, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cartagena, Cúcuta, Florencia, Ibagué, Manizales, Medellín, Montería, Neiva, Pasto, Pereira, Popayán, San Andrés, Santa Marta, Sincelejo, Tunja, Valledupar and Villavicencio.
- Municipal Group 3: Municipalities with incidence of poverty by MPI below 70% (2005 census data).
- Municipal Group 4: Municipalities with incidence of poverty by MPI of 70% or higher (2005 census data). This group includes departmental corregimientos.
HOW WILL THE PAYMENT OF FAMILIES IN ACTION WITH PETRO BE?
On the other hand, Petro also referred to the idea of establishing a new subsidy for mothers who are heads of households. “It is necessary to locate which is the beneficiary population group of this type of transfer. In Families in Action, and in general throughout society, 500,000 pesos to mothers who are heads of households and to the other part of society”.
In this case, there would be a rearrangement of the beneficiaries of Familias en Acción to segment mothers who are heads of households so that they can receive this new bonus.
