Fantastic Negrito gives three concerts in Germany in May – one of them in the courtyard. The American is considered a blues sensation.
Xavier Dphrepaulezz, stage name Fantastic Negrito, is being hailed in the press as America’s new blues sensation. The musician, who has meanwhile won three Grammys, is coming to Germany for three concerts in May and will also play in the Lörracher Burghof.
On his concept album “White Jesus Black Problems” he tells the story of his ancestors and America, according to a Burghof statement. Part love affair, part archaeological dig, the record is an ode to the power of family and the resilience of humanity. In Virginia in the 1750s, a Scottish white working woman and a black slave fell in love, becoming his ancestors seven generations ago. Fantastic Negrito builds his sonorous music on this story and deals with racism, capitalism and freedom. Musically, this goes far beyond his previous work and combines many different genres and styles. Dphrepaulezz calls his mix of styles “black roots music for everyone”.
