Far Cry – Into The Wild – Ubisoft Montreal – News

According to sources fromInside Gaming (corroborated by our internal sources), Ubisoft Montreal would be developing Far Cry 7. It would be codenamed Project Blackbird and would be located in Alaska which had been suggested during a survey from Ubisoft a few years ago. The real surprise is that another Far Cry is also in development at Ubisoft Montreal and that it would be a multiplayer game codenamed Project Maverick. Far Cry has always had a multiplayer component even though the emphasis has been on co-op since the 3rd installment.

my city adds that Far Cry 7 will ditch the Dunia Engine used since Far Cry 2 in favor of Massive’s Snowdrop which is becoming in fact the official studio engine like Frostbite at EA. It is also about survival and permadeath for solo so it looks like the gameplay is also going to get a makeover. There is no release date yet so the game still has plenty of time to be cancelled, pushed back and rebooted. Note that the thumbnail comes from a winter mod for Far Cry 5. The result is pretty cool, especially at night.
