That was exactly the farewell he had wished for: Hansa’s longstanding team doctor, Dr. Frank Bartel (63) made his last appearance at 0:2 at HSV.

After 32 years for the Koggenklub, he now takes care of his own health (had a long-term infection in his back) and also has time for his parents (BILD reported).

How was the last game? The Doc: “Apart from the result – outstanding!”

His final Hansa business trip to the Volksparkstadion (“my favorite stadium”), which was sold out with 57,000 spectators. The appropriate game preparation: the evening in the team hotel. Former trainer Frank Pagelsdorf (65) appeared and chatted with “Doci” about the past.

And then, as a surprise: Dietmar Remus, private secretary of cult rocker Udo Lindenberg (77), presented Bartel with a liqueur – Udo’s legendary, patented liqueur caricature with a dedication (“Here’s to continue great times”)!

Doc Bartel got this original Udo for the Hansa farewell

Before kick-off, the Hansa kickers warmed up in special jerseys (“Thank you Doci”), after the game Bartel was celebrated by 7,000 fans who had traveled with him in the guest block and received applause for his Hansa life’s work.

Against Düsseldorf (September 16) Bartel and his colleague Dr. Holger Strubelt and Physio Tobias Hamann, who also retired from Hansa, are said goodbye in front of the home crowd.

First Hansa game for HSV loanee Jonas David

Doc Bartels last game was the first for defender Jonas David (23).

He was released on loan from HSV last week and was substituted at half-time for Schumacher, who was at risk of yellow-red. David on his debut: “The goals came at a bad time. But otherwise we held up well.” Trainer Alois Schwartz (56): “He had only trained with us three times before. In the half-time he got, he did a good job.”
