“Fast wie Radlfahrn: Ina Regen’s Lively and Playful Tour with Flinte’s Alexa Voss”

Alexa Voss, the voice of the Berlin duo Flinte, has become a friend of Ina Regen, with whom she wrote a number of tracks on the third album “Fast wie Radlfahrn”, which was released in March (reached number three in the Austrian charts). Flinte played the opening act in Graz for the first time on the current tour, and Klagenfurt will follow today. And enchanted the audience in the Orpheum with his clever and mischievous numbers and Alexa’s voice, which enthusiastically joined in as a chorus at some points. Later, of course, the duet “Coffee & Chardonnay” could not be missing: “As different as we are . . . they understand each other anyway. Riot and poetry piano. We put ourselves on a line.” Simply beautiful and organic, out of life and intoxicating.

With playful and poppy songs, Ina Regen (38) wanted to “take back a lightness”, as she explained in the run-up to the tour on the occasion of the release of “Fast wie Radlfahrn”. The Amadeus prizewinner (born Regina Mallinger) describes the successor to “Red” as “more lively, life-affirming and lighter”. The aim of the new eleven songs was also to be able to play out their “entertainer nature” more on stage: “As much as I like it, I’m not only always behind the piano, but can also interact with my audience, dance and escalate.” Without losing touching, poetic moments. With heartbeats and vulnerability.

Well then: The jazz singer (Bruckner University in Linz), who can be heard at any moment, played the emotional keyboard for her fans in a fine way, but also got the visitors off their chairs. Soon after the thoughtful opener “Improbability”. Whether with “Nordstern”, that wonderful hymn for the life people, which each of us has won away from the family, or with “Na ge,” where half of the audience danced along exuberantly. The most intimate song on the current CD, “Waltz”, was performed by Ina Regen alone at the piano; the excellent five-piece band was allowed to take a short break. Also touching: “Like you”, a bow to the parents, may not always be wanted. “And I notice, I’m becoming more and more like you,” sings the exceptional local singer in this song.

It remains a mystery why the station, which calls itself Hitradio Ö3, is unable to find two or three titles from the album for Powerplay in its program. “A Weg zu mir” or “When I grow up” would be trendy enough, but obviously don’t fit into the format due to the lyrics being too profound.
