A fatal accident was reported this morning at kilometer 2.6 of the PR-867 highway in the El 26 sector of the Ingenio neighborhood, in Toa Baja.
According to preliminary reports from the Police Bureau, the accident occurred when the driver of a 1998 Toyota Tacoma truck allegedly invaded the opposite lane and hit a gray 2003 Toyota Echo car at around 7:39 am today. Friday, in front of a concrete.
The driver of the compact car, identified as Omar Molina Ocasio, 43, died at the scene.
The bus overturned after the impact and its driver, Leonady Durán Pérez, 37, was transported to the Puerto Rico Medical Center in Río Piedras. The condition is unknown.
A section of the highway was closed, so drivers are recommended to take the PR-167 highway through the Bayamón mayor’s office or PR-165 in Levittown, Toa Baja as an alternate route.
The Bayamón Highway Patrol Division together with prosecutor Gustavo Vélez are in charge of the investigation.
