A fatal two-vehicle collision on the Harbor (110) freeway in South Los Angeles disrupted Sunday morning traffic. The California Highway Patrol reported the accident occurred around 5 a.m.in the northbound lanes, just south of Manchester Avenue.
A black sedan and a gray cargo van collided in the freeway’s express lanes. The impact resulted in the closure of all northbound lanes, according to a SigAlert issued at 5:33 a.m.
While the freeway was shut down for approximately two hours, authorities later revised the SigAlert, reopening the No. 4 lane by 6 a.m.

**Officer Ramirez:** Sure.At approximately 5 a.m., we responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision in the northbound lanes of the 110 Freeway, just south of Manchester Avenue. A black sedan and a gray cargo van were involved in a collision in the express lanes.
Unfortunately,the driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The impact of the collision resulted in a full closure of all northbound lanes. A SigAlert was issued at 5:33 a.m.
We were able to partially reopen the freeway, allowing traffic to pass through the no. 4 lane, by 6 a.m.
What caused the accident is still under investigation.

**officer Ramirez:** The impact was critically important. All northbound lanes were initially closed following the accident. A SigAlert was issued at 5:33 a.m. We were able to reopen the No. 4 lane by 6:00 a.m., but the other lanes remained closed for further inquiry.

**Officer Ramirez:** Currently,we estimate the remaining lanes will be closed for at least another 2-3 hours while our accident investigation team gathers evidence and reconstructs the scene.
