A man was killed on a cycle path in Berchem on Friday evening. The 38-year-old man hit an underage cyclist with his speed pedelec. He fell once morest a lighting pole and died on the spot, Antwerp police said. Several witnesses witnessed the accident.
Let’s remember what a speed pedelec is. This is an electric bike with a power of more than 250 watts and can reach up to 45 km/h. These vehicles, closer to a moped than a bicycle, are subject to stricter rules than traditional bicycles.
