It was 6:20 p.m. this Tuesday when a person was hit by a train near Maffle. The hypothesis of a voluntary act seems favored. The person died while the train was still stationary.
“A collision was reported while this train was traveling between Tournai and Brussels, indicates Frédéric Sacré, spokesperson for Infrabel. The emergency services are on site and traffic was interrupted between Ath and Enghien. In reality, trains are being diverted via Jurbise and the journey time will be extended by around 15 minutes. The disruption on the rail should probably last between two and three hours.”
