A tragic road accident occurred late Friday morning in the entity of Tournai where a truck hit a car at the exit of a factory. The driver of the car died at the scene.
The driver fails to avoid the truck
The emergency services of Picardy Wallonia were alerted on Friday, shortly following 10:30 a.m., that a traffic accident had occurred along the chaussée de Bruxelles (RN7), near the villages of Gaurain-Ramecroix and Barry, in the entity of Tournai. Coming from the Tournai barracks, an extrication vehicle, a marking truck, an SMUR and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene.
The accident took place in the Tournai-Leuze direction opposite the Ploegsteert brickworks. A motorist traveling on the Brussels road might not avoid a truck leaving the company. The shock was extremely violent. When the emergency services arrived, the driver of the car had unfortunately already died. The victim was 36 years old. The Tournai-Mons public prosecutor’s office has been informed of the facts. For the purposes of the investigation, traffic on the roadway was closed in both directions.
