The accused claimed the infant’s injuries were the result of an accidental fall from the couch. The infant is in critical condition in the hospital. The father will appear before the Charleroi council chamber on Wednesday. Neighbors reported seeing the mother in tears and the police and investigators arrived on Friday.

The SMUR was requested Thursday rue des Déportés in Courcelles (province of Hainaut) following a call from the mother of a baby born two weeks ago. The latter, who had just left to go shopping in Charleroi with a couple of friends, discovered the worrying state of health of her infant on returning home.
“Initially, she was not particularly worried since the baby was in her playpen and her husband was sleeping. At one point, she noticed that something was wrong with the child’s breathing”, commented the Charleroi prosecutor’s office. Transported to hospital, the infant is in a critical state of health. “He is still between life and death, according to the latest news received Friday evening.”

This Saturday, residents told our microphone what they saw or heard. “His wife was in crisis. Her man told her that the baby had fallen 2 hours later. When she took her little one, she saw that he was all blue. She quickly called the ambulance”, indicates a neighbor.
“Thursday around 7 p.m., I saw this lady come out in tears with her phone in her hands. We understood that there was something important. The version given to the neighbors is that the little one had fallen from a couch. The scientific police and the investigators came on Friday”adds a neighbor.
