Anthony Fauci, the chief infectious disease expert in the United States, revealed that America has already begun to emerge from the stage of the “large-scale”epidemic.
In an interview with the Financial Times, President Joe Biden’s top medical adviser predicted that the combination of vaccination, treatments and previous infections would soon make the virus more manageable.
“We hope that in the coming months all restrictions related to the epidemic, including the mandatory wearing of masks, will be lifted. As we emerge from the full stage of the covid – 19 pandemic, from which we are certainly emerging, these decisions are increasingly being made locally rather than centrally. There will also be more people making their own decisions regarding how they want to fight the virus,“he said.
On when the restrictions will end, he said: “We hope it will happen soon and agreed with the assumption that it is likely to happen this year. But local health departments can temporarily resume procedures if an outbreak is detected in the area,”he said.
“We cannot by any means eliminate this virus. But I hope there will come a time when we have enough people immunized and enough people protected from past infections, and covid restrictions will soon be a thing of the past,”he said.
