FC Bayern Munich | Bouna Sarr is considering returning to France

At the beginning of October 2020, FC Bayern presented its fans with Bouna Sarr, a new addition that not many experts had previously considered as an option for the vacant post of backup in the right-back position. That the Munich team see the 28-year-old Frenchman as a real alternative is shown by Sarr’s six competitive appearances. The defender is already considering playing for another club again.

“Of course! Why not? It’s a club where I felt good. That’s where I made the decisive step. The fans are not always indulgent, but they love this club. I miss them … Everything can happen. I’m 28 years old and have many years ahead of me. We’ll see, “replied Sarr when asked by the French TV channel” téléfoot “whether he could envisage a return to Olympique Marseille.

Sarr already played for Olympique Lyon in his youth, then moved to FC Metz in 2009, where he made the leap into professional business. In 2015 he moved to Olympique Marseille. The Lyon native played 181 competitive games for the southern French until his transfer to the German record champions.

Sarr’s answer, however, does not suggest that he wants to return to his ex-club in the near future. At Bayern he is still under contract until 2024, when it expires he would be 32, a comeback in Marseille is still possible.

Before that, however, the defender is likely to have a lot more plans for Bayern. He must already have clearly felt that the move to one of the best teams in the world is focusing more on him than before. France coach Didier Deschamps Sarr recently appointed him to the international team for the first time. Sarr clearly denied rumors that a Bayern veto had prevented his arrival at the last moment.

“It’s very simple,” Sarr explained. “I was contacted last Monday to be nominated. They first contacted me and then the club. But I got injured after our game against Dortmund. I had a hamstring injury and I was receiving treatment.”

The medical department of FC Bayern and the French national team would then have consulted and decided that it would be better for Sarr to take the time to recover. A mission was rated as “dangerous”.
