FC Bayern: Samuel Kuffour gives his son a bizarre name – Bundesliga

That’s what you call true connection!

Ex-Bayern professional Samuel Kuffour (45) has revealed that he gave his son the name “Munich” (German: Munich). In an interview with the TV journalist Kwamena Obu Mensa Odum, the former defender also said that ex-Bayern President Uli Hoeneß (70) must “absolutely get to know” his offspring.

In 1993 Kuffour came to Bayern from FC Turin and quickly became a crowd favourite. In particular, he quickly developed an almost fatherly relationship with Hoeneß. No wonder Kuffour still calls him “Dad” to this day. He had never met a more honest person in his entire life.

When FC Barcelona showed great interest in Kuffour in 2001, Bayern manager Hoeneß declared his player “not for sale”. Only four years later did he leave Munich and move back to Italy to AS Roma.

His time in Munich, during which Kuffour won the World Cup and celebrated winning the Champions League, is something he obviously holds particularly dear to his heart.

And who knows, maybe a kuffour will soon be wearing the jersey for the pros at FC Bayern. One with a wonderfully whimsical name…
