FC Bayern: Uli Hoeneß: What he thinks about Lauterbach and Bayern’s Qatar deal – football

Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (58 / SPD) would not have expected this fan!

Before his 70th birthday on Wednesday, Bayern Honorary President Uli Hoeneß (69) speaks plain text, says in a dpa interview that he is a “total fan” of the new SPD health minister!

Hoeneß: “As long as he was not in office, I had my problems with him. I found that he knows everything better. “

But: “Now I’m a total fan of Karl Lauterbach because I have the feeling that he understands a lot regarding the matter and is a doer.” Lauterbach will certainly like this praise!

Hoeneß even further praises Lauterbach, but also criticizes ex-health minister Jens Spahn (41): “He (Lauterbach, ed.) Takes stock of the vaccine and worries regarding what is missing. His predecessor Jens Spahn was the announcement world champion, but achieved little. ”

Hoeneß also speaks regarding the controversial deal between Bavaria and the state airline Qatar Airways, which is criticized for the human rights violations prevailing in Qatar.

He says: “Personally, I would tend to extend it if we have the feeling that we can make a contribution with this partnership, that things on the ground improve and will continue to improve.”

Background: At the annual general meeting of Bavaria on November 25th, 2021, Bayern supporters wanted to submit a motion to vote on the Qatar sponsorship. They saw it as a violation of FC Bayern’s values. The club did not allow the application in advance. As a result, there was fanfare at the gathering.

“This is the worst event I have ever seen at FC Bayern!” Rumbled Honorary President Uli Hoeneß. Many fans shouted at him, not letting their honorary president have a say. Hoeneß waved his hand and stormed out of the hall in frustration. He said: “I am ashamed!”
