Federal Army: Acquired almost 450 vehicles in 2023

At least 449 vehicles were purchased in 2023, according to a balance sheet broadcast on St. Stephen’s Day. Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner (ÖVP) was pleased about the modernization of the army.

The purchases range from sleigh trailers to armored vehicles and two large buses. The Federal Army also invested in equipment for soldiers: for example, 40,800 M2000 NBC protective masks, 1,600 3D night vision goggles and 4,000 assault rifles were purchased.

Helicopter AW169 as the largest investment

One of the largest investments in 2023 is the AW169 helicopter. In December of last year, Defense Minister Tanner signed the option to purchase a total of 36 helicopters, which will be delivered by 2028. A total of five new helicopters have landed in the army so far.
