Félix Tshisekedi in Zambia to participate in the SADC summit on security in eastern DRC

The President of the Republic Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi arrived this Saturday, March 23, 2024, in Lusaka, Zambia, to take part in the extraordinary summit of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) devoted to the security situation in the eastern part of the DRC and in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique.

Around ten Heads of State representing the Troika of the Organ, namely Zambia, Tanzania and Namibia; the SADC Troika composed of Angola, Zimbabwe and the DRC as well as the personnel contributing countries to the Samim (SADC Mission in Mozambique) and the Samirdc (SADC Mission to the DRC) are taking part in these seats.

During this summit, our source indicates, participants will be informed of the progress of these SADC missions, deployed to provide support to the governments of the DRC and Mozambique, with a view to restoring peace, security, stability and to pave the way for sustainable development within the sub-region.

Recall that the said summit was preceded by a series of meetings of military experts and SADC ministers.

According to the same source, the Congolese delegation is made up of the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of defense, Jean-Pierre Bemba, Christophe Lutundula, VPM Minister of Foreign Affairs, the High Representative Serge Tshibangu, the Chief of Staff General of the FARDC, Army General Christian Tshiwewe and several other experts.
