Thrissur ∙ A mother and daughter died following they slipped in a pond in Padasekara near Mala Poopatti Challur temple. The deceased have been identified as Mary Anu (37) and daughter Agna (11) of Kalappuraikkal Jio, a native of Mala Pallipuram. The incident happened around 5:30 pm on Saturday.
The mother and her three children were returning from a relative’s house. When they came near the field, the two younger children went near the pond in the field to wash their feet. A child’s shoe fell into the water. The children called their mother to take it. While trying to take off her sandals, Mary Anu slipped and fell into the pool.
On seeing this, Agna went into the pool to save her mother but drowned. Locals who heard the noise of the children started a search. After being informed, the fire rescue team reached and found both of them. He was rushed to Mala hospital but his life might not be saved. Culture later.
