Fernando Alonso “Monaco must be left on the F1 calendar”[F1-Gate .com]

Two-time F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso says Monaco must continue to be on the calendar.

The famous race in Monaco is believed to be unguaranteed for spots on future schedules amid growing interest from many new locations around the world.

Overtaking is very difficult in narrow alleys, and the track layout is often criticized.

However, Fernando Alonso, who won the Monaco Grand Prix in 2006 and 2007, argues that F1 must retain historic events on the calendar.

“I think Monaco must be on the calendar,” says Fernando Aallonso.

“And I don’t know why Monaco shouldn’t be included in the calendar.”

“If it’s difficult to overtake, it’s difficult. It’s difficult in Singapore. It was difficult in Barcelona and it was difficult in Budapest.”

“Before DRS, before 2011, etc., in Budapest, Barcelona, Monaco, Singapore, even though there was no overtaking, they weren’t talking about removing these races from the calendar.”

“A lot of things are being talked about on social media right now. What about the world, we need to talk about things and random things. This is one of the things that doesn’t make sense.”

Fernando Alonso’s compatriot Carlos Sainz, who won the podium in Monaco last weekend, has a similar view.

However, Ferrari drivers say it would be positive for the circuit if they could adopt a section that allowed overtaking.

“I think Monaco deserves to be on the F1 calendar anyway,” said Carlos Sainz.

“I think this is the best place to visit.”

“When you think about F1, a lot of people think about Monaco. Well, it would be great if there was a place to overtake, but I’m not going to lie.”

“If we can overtake, the show on Sunday may be a little better, but even if it isn’t, we all know that pit stops and qualifying are important this weekend.”

“And everyone is already expecting it, so we’re not missing a lot.”
