Despite the breakthrough, the AMR26 still presents setup hurdles that need ironing out. Balance issues plagued the cockpit during the qualifying hour, pointing toward a clear path for immediate aerodynamic optimization.
“In the three sessions we had some differences in behavior. Unfortunately, we lost a car on Friday, so we are a little behind all the tests we wanted to do,” Alonso concluded. “In the crono, the car was understeering too much, it hadn’t happened to us before and we would have put more grip on the front end. There are still some things to learn.”
