Fespaco 2023: Burkinabe filmmakers win 8 special prizes

At this 28th edition of the biennial of African cinema, the harvest is rather good for Burkinabe directors. Out of 21 special prizes awarded to the winners, the Burkinabè filmmakers take eight and win a prize pool of more than 40 million CFA francs out of the 111 million available this year for special prizes.

Thus, Apolline Traoré, alone, won four prizes with her film “SIRA”, including major prizes such as that of the best West African director (10,000,000 FCFA) and the Félix Houphouët-Boigny prize from the Council of agreement (10,000,000 FCFA).

Chloé Aïcha Boro’s film “Al Djanat/Paradis original” also won the UEMOA special prize for short documentary film and the Ababacar Samb Makharam prize from the city of Ouagadougou (3,000,000 FCFA).

Directors Hervé Eric Lengani and Boubacar Diallo were also rewarded.
