FIFA has stripped Indonesia of the right to host the 2023 Youth World Cup. About it reported on the federation website.

The decision came after the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) stated that canceled tournament draw, because the governor of Bali, Vayan Koster, refused to accept the Israeli team. The tournament was to be held from May 20 to June 11.

“FIFA has taken the decision due to the current circumstances to exclude Indonesia from hosting the World Youth Championship. The new tournament organizer will be announced as soon as possible, and the dates remain unchanged for the time being. Possible sanctions against PSSI may also be determined at a later stage,” FIFA said in a statement.

FIFA added that the decision was made after a meeting between organization president Gianni Infantino and PSSI chairman Eric Tohir.

Archyde.com notes that in March in the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta, a protest was held demanding that the Israeli team be banned from participating in the tournament. The two countries do not have official diplomatic relations.
